IT'S ME! FINALLY!

I know, I know, I know.
You're thinking, "Geeze Jessi, you certainly took long enough"
I apologize profusely and humbly implore for your gracious forgiveness.
My life has been a train wreck lately and most of my days have been spent much like a headless chicken.
I'm here now, right!? And I have loads of fun stuff and news for you.

We'll begin with my recent conquest. Back during spring break I purchased a gorgeous wooden desk which someone had defaced with a horrid varnish. I've been working to restore it and use it to create a workspace for myself now that I am home from college. It had been a slow process, but I've made a great deal of progress working on it a bit each day.
I'm excited for it to be finished. The drawers are all sanded and ready for stain or varnish, whichever I decide to use.

Today while shopping with my Mom {who is another reason I've been so long in posting. She just recently had surgery and I've been helping take care of her. I know, right? Graduation which Holly told you about, then my Mom's surgery, and some personal relationship issues. Now you see why it took me so long!) I found these adorable little cupcake place card/photo holders. Aren't they adorable!?

They were so adorable I had to bring two home with me!

In other news, I was happy to receive a package I'd been waiting for in the mail. It contained lots of fun stuff for cross stitching. I already have several projects in the planning stages and will hopefully have new things for you guys soon. Pictured with my crossstich supplies is a bunch of yarn I was given by Holly during a sleep over craft fest we had recently. I have more than I know what to do with. I promise to have at least SOMETHING new in the next few days.
Well I do have SOMETHING for you before I go. Didn't think I was going to leave you empty handed did you? Of course not! I've begun my line of hats and so far I am pleased with what I've decided and what I have done so far. Today I have an example of the Classy Holly. Which will be one of the many designs I offer. The Classy Holly is a very dainty slouchy hat which looks even more adorable on someones head than on my mannequin.

I promise to have more hats and cross-stitch for you guys soon.
Until next time.
Live well, laugh often, and love much.
❤ Jessi

just a quick note!

hey everybody!

just wanted to let you all know why it's been so quiet around these parts lately!!

well, everyone's been very busy lately. our darling jessi just graduated from college yesterday with a degree in psychology. the ever wonderful colleen has been working nonstop at her job and on secret and commissioned projects. and amanda jean jelly bean has been running ramped trying to work and get ready for her family vacation next week to disney!

along with all of this, we've been reorganized and re-purposing somethings within our company as to make things run a bit smoother. once everything is figured out, i'll be able to tell you all a bit more.

as far as what i have been up to... well, all i can say as of now is that i'm working on some very adorable things for you guys!
keep it funky!
XOXO,

newest member to our crafty family!

good morning everyone!

i know i have already told you about our lovely friend jessi from over @ because the heart won't quit  but know i would like to formally introduce her, because she will officially be joining us as a member of order & chaos. this means you will be hearing alot more from her, as she will now be posting on this blog as well!

jessi is and always has been one of my dearest friends, not to mention she gives me free psych consults every now and again. haha! just like the rest of us here at O&C she was one of our highschool friends. yes, everyone in O&C as of now has been friends for a very very very looooong time (especially amanda and i, i've known that bitch since 3rd grade, we're now both 22).

my darling jessi is a tremendously talented writer but on top of this, she's also quite the crafter! recently, she's gotten very into making hats and scraves and all sorts of things. i won't dive to into it, i'll just let her tell you all about it later!
last weekend, when jess and coco went on their trip to baltimore, the swapped creative techniques and due to this, i think there's going to be a ton of wonderful things coming your way!!

she's starting to cross stitch thanks to the beautiful coco, here's what she's got so far!! (and yes, this was plucked from her facebook page, i cyberstalk my friends when the don't return my text messages! haha!)

well, i think that's enough for now. i'm going to get back to my doodling, coco and i've got some delightful things a-brewin' and i'm very excited to share them with you once we get alittle further with it!!

XOXO,
holly

So so so so so sorry.

Hey guys, it's Coco. And I am so sorry for how long I've been away without a decent post. I've been really busy working on stuff that I can't post and fighting with my camera to get decent pictures of stuff that I can. But I'm here now and I am damn well going to post. So let's do this!

A few weeks ago Holly and I came up with the idea that I would cross stitch some tags to put in tote bags and other such fabric projects that we will be making and though I haven't quite made one that we can use yet, I have attempted.
Tadaa! It ended up a bit big for a tag but I may throw it in a bag or something anyway.

Since Holly and I both had free time last Tuesday we got together at my house for "Tag Sewing Tuesday" which turned out to be more "Jewelry designing/tag sewing/generally catching up and ranting while watching Asian movies Tuesday" which reminded me of why I love Holly and consider her to be one of my best friends. Despite the lack of tags sewn we did make some pieces for the shop (which my camera is failing at capturing decent pictures of).
This is the necklace I made.
Sorry for the bad pictures. These are the best I got.
I used four different types of chain to complete the piece.
As well as some vintage crystals I found on Etsy.
Which went stunningly with random charms and beads from my own collection.

Sadly that is all of the productivity that I can report from Tag Sewing Tuesday, unless making fajitas for dinner counts.

Over the weekend I took a roadtrip to Maryland with my good friend Jessi who writes over at Because the Heart Won't Quit. We embarked on our journey in the dead of night, determined to get to Baltimore with hours to spare before seeing Yellowcard, Hey Monday, All Time Low, and The Summer Set in concert. Hmm, I wonder if anyone can tell who I went to see. But anyway we left around one in the morning for the long drive which I stayed awake for most of (mainly because I am incapable of sleeping in a moving vehicle) but boredom was near-lethal; so as soon as it was light out I busted out my craft supplies and started cross stitching. What? Who cross stitches and brings craft supplies on a roadtrip? This bitch does. And I churned out some pretty awesome gifts for people, I'll have you know.
On the left is a sampler Holly asked me to sew for Quinn (well, she asked for the red ghost. The cherries and heart were my idea) and on the right is my Mother's Day gift to my mommy. I decided after finishing the first piece that the theme of these gifts would be love in the world of Pacman... or something along those lines.

Speaking of gifts, I have changed my mind on one of my birthday gifts. Instead of getting a Kindle (which I would probably never have time to read on anyway) I got mom to buy me a huge bunch of supplies that will help me in my newest quest; learning to hand embroider. But more on all of that later; I have to get a shower and get ready for work now.

Love and kisses (digitized or otherwise),
Coco.

just a quick check-in

hey all,
i really don't have much to talk about today. but i wanted to let you all know that we're not all dead.
coco's been in Baltimore the last few days and amanda was in NYC last week. as for me... i've been dead...tired. i really tried to work on things this past weekend, but it ended up with me on the couch having a severely huge grey's anatomy marathon via netflix. last week i had a run-in with some crazy powerful paint fumes and a paper mask that almost killed me. like for real. i had a really bad allergic reaction to it and between that and the harsh fumes my skin and lungs haven't really recovered fully just yet. so i'm trying to take it kinda easy. i'll be working on some things tomorrow, so check back for pictures then.

i'm working on my studio space in my bedroom at the moment, and i'm pleased to say that i'm almost finished. tons and tons of books and art supplies... it takes a good bit of time to sort through.

i hope all of you are well and that you had a great weekend!!
keep checking back for more!

XOXO,
holly

ps. check out my personal blog over @ http://theqypsyqueen.blogspot.com  i just started it today. i'll be posting alot more art and photography over there. stop by and say hi! <3

douchey post thursday volume 3

i think its my favorite day of the week...

aey-o! (colleen, its a reference to that ridiculous alice game)...the last few days i've been catching up on past episodes of one of my favorite podcasts citizen radio and hearing about all the fucking ridiculousness that is our governments. any way... their episode for easter the had a audio clip of this guy playing cello and beatboxing AT THE SAME TIME!!! i was blown away... here it is...
i hope you guys enjoy it as much as i did.

this past tuesday, i got together with coco and we had 'tag making tuesday'...which really didn't end up with as much productivity as i'd originally hoped, but we had a nice day just catching up with everything that's been going and i think i made 2 tags. she made a gorgeous necklace, that i hope she posts soon (wink, wink).

i really haven't had much time lately to work on alot of projects and i do apologize. i'll be trying to squeeze some in this weekend, thought i do believe my weekend is mostly full. well, let's put it this way, i hope to be squeezing things in. ha!
i have been working on a painting, that when once its finished i'll post photos here. there's a few other art projects that i have in the works at the moment along with somethings that i need to finish for gifts. so if i'm a little quiet the next few days you'll know why. i think i may just shut myself in my house and get everything done the just write a HUGE post.
like i've been so busy recently, that i haven't even had time to stalk the internet... but i do have a stack of business cards from tekkoshocon and the zombie walk that i'm going to do alittle research on and hopefully you guys can send them some love.

well i think that's all i've got for today. but please send some love and support over the jamie and allison over @ citizen radio and also the ever talented kolusola over at the youtube :)
check it out, its really informative infused with some of the funniest people i've heard in a good while.

XOXO,
holly

Douchey Post Thursday! NOW WITH MOAR NYAN CAT!

Yeah so yesterday on the Facebook page I promised a post about Tag Sewing Tuesday and other such nonsense. Well, I am currently running a bit short on time so I'm gonna post something else instead; progress shots of my nyan cat sampler. Why? Because I can. (And because I feel really bad about not posting for so long.) This project was completed over the course of four days with me doing literally nothing else besides stitching and going to work.

I think I got this much done the first night.
Then the next morning I filled in the poptart.
Then came the rainbow that night after work (my house has awful lighting).
In-progress shot of the rainbow for a friend.
Moar rainbow.
Even moar rainbow.
Moar rainbow and some sparkles. Also, my bedsheets.
Finished rainbow and sparkles.
Logo, letters, sparkles.
The finished sampler in still in it's cute pink hoop, mere moments before the clock struck midnight.

The piece has now had the edges trimmed with pinking shears to prevent fraying and awaits framing before I attempt to find it a good home. If you would care to make an offer on the piece message me through the Order & Chaos Facebook or just keep checking back for me to list it on eBay or (hopefully) our soon-to-come Etsy shop.

Well, that is all I have for you at the moment. I really do promise a real update soon! I swear!

XOXO,
Coco.

holly's book wishlist...

hey all you crafty darlings!

so i've been scouring the internet alot recently and lusting after a bunch of books. i really don't know what that's about, but i thought i'd share them with you!!

my dad told me about this one. he's kind of a NRP addict... and that's where he finds most of the neato things he tells me about. it sounds really interesting and i've always been into anything to do with medicine (and murder).
you can read more about it on amazon.

this one looks pretty cool. there's a really adorable pattern for a fabric baby book that i think i'm going to make for quinn's neice. she at that perfect age where i can make cute things and she'll think they're aaaaaamazing! find it here
aaaaaaaaahhhh! i want thisiiiiiiissssss! oh. my. gosh. this looks like the fucking cutest thing ever...there's so many adorable projects hidden behind these flimsy paper pages. and i want them all. find it here.

have i ever told you guys about my maaaaasive art crush on mr. brian froud??? prob not... he was one of the concept artist's for the movie labyrinth (yaknow the one with david bowie's penis). yea, that one. i've always been really inspired by his artwork. one of my instructors in school had this book and i should have stolen it, but i sorta have morals every once in a while. weeeeird. find it here.

sooo the crushes continue... amanda fucking palmer. woah. this goes along with her album with the same title. it's a book of photographs as amanda palmer as a corpse. do you really need anything else? no. you don't. find it here.
doesn't this just look super fun, just by the cover??? well, its filled with fun projects with sewing, photo transfers and all kinds of neat shit. and she's hula-hooping, awesome cover. find it here...

every one says that hands are the hardest thing to draw. i'm one of those weird people that FUCKING LOVES drawing hands. i like the challege. hands have always facinated and slightly freaked me out. i like to draw them, and this book looks awesome! i've flipped through a couple of pages and i like what i see. find it here.

that's about it for today kiddos. i'm spending time with coco tomorrow and we're going to sew tags and watch weird movies! can't wait!!!!

XOXO,
holly

douchey post thursday #2

hey there eeeeeverybody!

coco thought last week's douchey post thursday was pretty funny, so i think i'm going to keep it going. this week, my douchey-ness is all about posting pictures that i should have posted days days daaaaaaaays ago. that and things that i've had to keep a secret because they were presents. so here goes....
recently, quinn and i celebrated our 1 year anniversary. i made him a pair of hand-sewn dolls in our likeness. he thought they were cute, and now has them sitting on his desk. these things took forever to make, but it was fun and he really enjoyed them!

as you guys know, the gang and i helped celebrate our darling coco's birthday this past weekend...

this purse (and a bunch of other randomly fun stuff) was my present to her. i think i worked an entire day, just trying to make this thing perfect. i think she liked it!
after a little bit of chaos, we ended up at one of me and quinn's favorite restaurants,cambod-ican kitchen, they have some of the best food in pittsburgh! i highly recommend their seafood wontons! omigod, i could eat them everyday for every meal! i don't remember what they called this dish...but it has rice noodles, chicken, cucumber, peanuts and herbs in it. it smelled like the most heavenly bowl of summer. and soooo tasty.
this past sunday, of coarse, was easter. these are just a couple of the eggs that quinn and i dyed over at his mom's house. it was such a nice day. my dad came over, his sister, the baby and her boyfriend were there too! we dyed eggs, played with the baby, everybody took a nap and we watched tv. it was so relaxed and his mom made such a nice dinner!
so i was off this past tuesday and i always try and do at least one thing crafty on my day off. this is what i got into. i made some really neato pendants out of sculpty clay.
and then...painted them! i love when the weather starts getting alittle warmer and i can go outside and paint.
the next couple of pictures are of what i did.

i think the tiny mushrooms are probably my favorite. i'll be making more. i've still got to bend the wires and actually make them wearable. but i was letting them dry, i clear-coated them yesterday and now they're all shiny and adorable! those and the rest of these pendants will be for sale!

i'll be sewing alot more in a few days. and i really need to make some more jewelry. i'm working on cleaning out a space to work in my house. so that's taking up some time. but keep checking back, the girls and i are always working on things!!

XOXO,
holly
