this week's jukebox sunday is rather special, as it includes a very wonderfully talented band who's bloodline is music royalty. ghost of a saber tooth tiger is the brain child of sean lennon and charlotte kemp. and they're just delightful, i think you guys might really dig them. enjoy! <3

hey guys, things might be a bit quiet around here for a few days, but i'm hoping to pop out one more post before i head out for a mini VACATION!!!! my bestest joey and i are heading to hershey park next week for 3 days and i can't be more excited. i'm going to try to write something up to show you guys what i'm taking and all that jazz. work has been kinda nuts, it seems like i work everyday, all day any more so i apologize for the quietness of the blog. i'm working on some things for you guys thou, promise!!

so i've been thinking about doing a few new things around here. and i've always had a deep love for music, and i figure i should share a bit of my love with you guys. jukebox sunday is going to be quite simple. each sunday i'll share 1 artist i'm currently in love with and a song from them. if you guys are currently obsessed with someone's music you think i should hear, let me know! i'm always looking for new music!!!

life and times of an amusement park face painter

this a going to be a rather simple post, just a photo dump of a few of my face paints (on my self) from the past few weeks at work. we've got to paint our face everyday for work and on some days i've gotten a little creative somed days, not so much. i'm not posting any faces of other people because i don't have their permission to post their faces online and i don't want to over step anyone's personal boundaries. there's a few photos of things i've painted on my arm. those are from days where its been slow and i get kinda bored! enjoy!!

new things, changes and goals

 so i figure i should give you guys a bit of an update on what's been going on with me and the girls here at O&C....well, amanda and i have a new job. we're both working at kennywood, the local amusement park, as face painters. its kind of awesome working with my gal! i've been there for a few months and i pushed and pushed for her to work with me because i knew she'd do amazing at it! and she has been! she's got such a talent for makeup and face painting...and her FXwork is bad ass!!! hopefully this fall we'll be working together again for kennywood at their halloween events, fright nights, doing makeup and FX.

i've chopped off all my hair! i decided a few months ago that i was going to cut my hair short for work this summer so that i could stay cool out in the heat. well, i'm one of those crazy people who's motto always seems to be 'go big or go home'....well i guess this time it was go short or...ya know!  its a big change for me, i've never had my hair this short before. its grown out a good bit since i've cut it, so its not as bad as it was. not that it didn't look nice, it was just a little uncomfortable for me. i'm getting used to it now. BUT! i did do something good with my hair, instead of just throwing it out, i decided to donate it to locks of love. i felt that it was something that just made sense. if i'm going to get it cut then i shouldn't just get rid of it and waste it. it should go to some one that could do good with it. i feel very strongly about this cause, and i hope that you guys take a minute and check it out. i donated 19 inches to the cause but their minimum is 10", so if you got the length and you're wanting to do something good, this is very simple and does so much good!

 if you've read my last post, i had mentioned that i've been taking a break from the business....well the girls have too. we haven't done a show since last last november or december i think. a few weeks ago we did! we partook in the WYEP Summer Music Festival and had a blast! we didn't make much but i think it was a nice slow ride back into the swing of things! we had a bunch of new products and colleen decided to come along for the ride and sell her lovely things and i'm so very glad she did!!! hopefully, within the next few months we'll be doing a few more shows and i'll of coarse be taking photos at those too to share.

 goals, goals, goals.....i'm going to be moving out of my father's house and going back to school this fall! yea, i'm actually going to be doing this! my life is about to get hella crazy really quick!!! colleen and i will be living together and we'll be looking for our new place in late august, hoping to be moved and settled by mid september just in time for me to start school early october. i'm so very excited and so extremely terrified. its such a big leap and i'm sure i'll be fine but its a giant change into actual adulthood. so naturally i'm a bit nervous. but i'll be documenting everything along the way and sharing our journey in tid bits here and there.

honest to blog.

hey guys, i swears i'm not dead! i've just been taking a break from the internet lately. i should have written something explaining this before just disappearing but the whole thing just got a little too stressful for me and i just HAD to get out for a bit. i've been missing the blog and all of you. if you've been waiting on things from me, i'm so very sorry i haven't gotten them to you. i'm not sure when i'm going to be able to, just to be honest.

so let me explain the disappearance of holly....if you have your own blog, i think you'll understand this a bit better. if not, try to follow along the best you can.
when you own a blog, a business, holding down a full time job (that isn't your business), dealing with life and are like me, dealing with the result of some supremely heavy family stress/ drama/ insanity (the death of my mother last year)....things can feel like they're kind of closing in on you. so i thought the best way to destress my life was to remove a few of these stressers. so i took a step back from the blog and the business for a few months to clear my head and get back to some sort of normal. the constant pressure of having to 'keep up with the blogging jones' is really heavy. you see these people in the blogiverse who's blogs are absolutely beautiful and amazing with these perfect blog posts and when you're just a little not-so-well known blog trying to keep up it becomes stressful. i know i've written about this before but i guess its something that i just have to come to terms with. i've just got to learn to be my own self and write just for fun and not for the page views. and i think this break that i've taken has given my perspective on the whole thing.

SO! i'm back. but i will tell you this. this blog is not going to be posting every single day. might not even be every week. but i'm going to be getting back into it slowly and trying to bring you things that i find interesting and fun. i'll be revamping the look here and there throughout the summer and fall. and hopefully, once i figure out a nice flow to this thing again, i'll be able to bring the blog back into full swing!!

hopefully you'll welcome me back with open hearts and eyes! you know i've miss you guys!

i know you've all see the neato DIY's around the blogosphere and i was thinking about doing a few and i'd like to know what you guys would like to see first! so here's the options that i've got for you:

• an art DIY- kind of like a drawing lesson
• a craft DIY- jewelry, sewing or maybe some home decor
• a food DIY- some sort of recipe, maybe a baked good or drink     

so just leave me a comment, telling me which one you'd like to see first! and i'll be posting in within the next week or two! things are going to be changing a bit around here and its gonna start with you guys! i write not only for myself but for you guys too so tell me what you'd like to see!!!

what i've been up to....

ello friends! well as you've all probably noticed its been pretty quiet around these parts lately. this is the dealio....i've been suuuper sick. there's some sort of cold/flu/stomach virus thing going around pittsburgh so its been my demise of recent. but i'm back and i'm trying to get back into the swing of things. but i wanted to share a little bit of what i've been up to during my sickness.

 working on a poster for a consignment i'm doing.

so far so good. its coming along well, so i'm pretty much pleased.

its amazing how much of a time suck the internet can be if you let it.

i wish i had a count of the hours that i've spent just muddling through people photos of FB.

it would probably be astonishing. and ghastly appalling.

well just want to check in for a sec and give you a little peek into what i've been doing since i've been doing everything except blogging! haha! i hoping to change that in the coming weeks. i swear when it gets cold and gloomy out side i just don't want to do anything. so when the weather gets a bit better i'm sure i'll be in higher spirits and there will be more fun here at O&C!!

holy crap you guys! i'm so sick this week! i had some fun things that i was wanting to write about, but because i've got this insane cold/flu thing...i dunno what it actually is but i feel like crap...but yea blogging is at a stand still at the moment. but i figured this would be a great platform for some advice. 

do you guys have any awesome home remedies for head colds?

my nose is so stuffy and miserable, if you guys have any advice for me i would love to hear it!!!! it would be greatly appreciated. so leave me a comment if you do and i'll love you forever!
